Adding vocational training to school education provides a seamless pathway to employment for youth who are compelled to or choose to work post-schooling. Samagra Shiksha is a Central Government flagship programme that helps in developing job-oriented training during school. Tata STRIVE implements this programme in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Given the territory’s high dependency on tourism for revenue, hospitality training is provided in 6 schools (Grade IX to XII) impacting 240 youth. In doing so, the programme has also created job opportunities for local faculty to work in these schools and who continuously benefit from upskilling provided by Tata STRIVE.
