About Rural Electrification Corporation Foundation
REC is a Navratna company under the Ministry of Power. It is a leading Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) and present across the entire power sector value chain, be it Generation, Transmission, Distribution or Renewable Energy. Through its CSR initiatives it attempts to fund and support socially beneficial projects with sustainability as a guiding principle, giving priority to issues of foremost concern as in the national development agenda and to reach a wide spectrum of beneficiaries with a view to empower economically and socially backward communities. CSR initiatives have been carried out by REC in the fields of sanitation and hygiene facilities, promotion of healthcare facilities, skill development, women empowerment, environmental sustainability and rural infrastructural development in order to facilitate an inclusive social development.
About the Project
Tata STRIVE and REC Limited share a common vision i.e. to reach out to the economically weaker and socially disadvantaged youth from across the country and empower them through acquisition of skills relevant to industry, leading to employment or entrepreneurship. The project aims to skill 1800 youth in the age group 18-35 years for jobs/entrepreneurship, with a special focus on youth from disadvantaged communities, including women, people with disabilities, SC/ST/OBC etc. The proposed project will be implemented across three aspirational districts in line with REC Foundation’s focus, namely - Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, Chandel, Manipur and Muzaffarpur, Bihar where the skill development need was felt and where Tata STRIVE will implement the projects directly or through its network of partners.
