Our learner, Dhobe Saunta, from the DMC Trade at the
Govt ITI,
Ambaguda
Dhobe Santa is from Damanjodi,
Koraput District. Coming from an impoverished farmer family and being the eldest daughter among
four siblings, she always had a lot of burden on her young shoulders. In order to get a job and
help boost her family income, she enrolled in DMC ber course in Government ITI, Ambaguda. However,
she was frequently absent from her classes as she had to travel from far and didn't have the means
to afford rented accommodation close to the ITI. The initiation of Tata STRIVE Life Skills programme
at ITI Ambaguda, helped Dhobe understand her goals, strengths and weaknesses and also inspired to find
solutions to the intrinsic issues she was facing. She soon started staying with one of her friend in
Ambaguda, close to the ITI and hence became one of the most regular and attentive student. Dhobe says,
"I have always dreamt of succeeding in life by being gainfully employed and support my family financially.
I wanted my brothers and younger sister to pursue higher studies and do well in their respective lives.
But I was feeling dejected and demotivated due to the financial situation at my house.
After attending the Tata STRIVEs YDM classes, I found inspiration from within. I was influenced
to fight back and do well in my life and achieve my dreams.
